What is Divorce Mediation?

Divorce mediation is a voluntary process where a neutral third party, known as a mediator, helps couples discuss and resolve issues related to their divorce. This includes matters such as property division, child custody and support, spousal support, and any other disputes that need resolution. The mediator facilitates open communication, promotes understanding, and guides the couple towards mutually acceptable agreements.

Our Mediation Process

Initial Consultation: We begin with an initial consultation to understand your unique situation and explain the mediation process.
Session Scheduling: Mediation sessions are billed on an hourly basis and are typically scheduled in increments of 1, 2, or 4 hours.
Mediation Sessions: During these sessions, our experienced mediator will help you and your spouse communicate effectively, explore options, and work towards a fair agreement.
Agreement Drafting: Once an agreement is reached, the mediator will draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the terms of your settlement.
Finalization: You can then take the MOU to your respective attorneys for review and to finalize the legal aspects of your divorce.

Licensed Professional Counselor Mediators

Our mediators are Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) with specialized training and extensive experience in both family law and conflict resolution. Important Note: While our LPCs bring invaluable skills to the mediation process, it is important to note that our counseling clients cannot also be mediator clients. This ensures that we maintain clear boundaries and provide the highest quality of service without any conflict of interest.

Dr. A. Catherine Lunde, EdE, LPC, CSC

Dr. Catherine Lunde is a skilled mediator with a comprehensive background in conflict resolution and family dynamics. She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a BBA degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Her professional experience includes roles at ExxonMobil, Harvard University, and The Woodlands High School as a Biology teacher and Response to Intervention (RtI) specialist. With 24 years of marriage and the experience of raising two young adult sons with special needs, Catherine brings a profound understanding of family challenges and dynamics to her mediation practice.
